Julie Obbard brings more than 20 years of experience in the education sector. Prior to launching Elevate Teaching, Julie was an education consultant working with school systems, nonprofit organizations and foundations in strategic planning, program design, partnership development and research. She has worked extensively with organizations working to recruit, retain and develop teachers and leaders of color, including: Alder GSE, The Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity, Diversity in Leadership Institute, US PREP, National Center for Teacher Residencies (NCTR), National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ), New York City Leadership Academy, Teach for America and Deans for Impact.
Prior to starting her consulting practice, Julie was a Project Manager for the Charter Schools Development Center (CSDC) where she worked on charter school start-up, performance management, and statewide policy issues. Before joining CSDC, Julie was a School Development Consultant for the KIPP Foundation, where she focused on strategy development and implementation of KIPP’s California expansion efforts. Her background also includes work in community development and venture philanthropy. She received her BA. in English from Tufts University, and her MBA from the University of California, Davis.
