Teaching Pathways Fellowship

The Teaching Pathways Fellowship is a teaching internship that offers early exposure to the teaching profession for diverse college students interested in exploring careers in teaching. Fellows join a cohort of other college students on their campus, where they will explore key issues and trends in the field of education, learn from dedicated mentor teachers, and work as an apprentice teacher or tutor in a local school.

We are piloting the Teaching Pathways Fellowship at UC Berkeley in the 2023-24 school year.

The pilot includes:
  • Introduction to Teaching Course: This course explores key trends and issues in the field of K-12 education and pathways into the teaching profession
  • Mentorship: Fellows are paired with an experienced mentor teacher from a local school
  • School Visits: Students will have opportunities to visit local schools, observe classrooms, and meet with teachers and school leaders
  • Volunteer and Paid Opportunities in Local Schools: Fellows gain access to volunteer opportunities and part-time jobs in local schools
